They are recognized as the same.

A QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) is needed in order to teach in England and Wales at a state maintained primary, secondary or special school (maintained and non-maintained). Once this status is achieved and you are employed by a maintained school within England and Wales, your pay will be paid according to the school teachers pay scale.

The QTLS (Qualified Teacher in Learning and Skills) status, which will be received after completing a PGCE (post-14 education and training) qualification, is the legislative requirement for teachers who wish to teach in the FE and skills sector. It is directly comparable to the QTS and from 1st April 2012, according to the Statutory instrument 2012 No. 431, teachers with QTLS are recognized as being qualified to teach in state maintained schools.

Most Universities and training providers do not provide placement for you. You will be responsible for having to find your own placement which many individuals have found very difficult at times.

At SCCD we offer the most affordable training, with flexible schedules and payment options.

We start a new cohort every month, but be aware that classes fill up quickly!
